Buy a thick steak (at least one and a half to two inches). Bone in or boneless, it doesn't make a difference—this is totally a matter of personal choice (I prefer bone-in). Get dry-aged beef (unless you don't enjoy the extra tenderness or slightly funky flavor of dry-aged meat). Salt in advance, and salt well.
Remove steaks from packaging. Pat dry with paper towels and season as desired. Lightly spray basket with nonstick cooking spray. Place desired number of servings in air fryer, leaving 1″ between pieces. Cook for 6 minutes, flip and cook for an additional 6 minutes for medium rare, or until desired temperature is reached.
Sear each side of the meat. To do this, heat a small amount of oil over medium high heat, in an oven-safe skillet. When it is hot, cook each side of the meat, for about 2 minutes per side. Marinate the steak for optimal flavor. However, pick your marinade carefully, as many contain a lot of salt and added sugar.
